Qsymia, a possibly risky new diet drug approved – how about trying just diet and exercise first?

A new diet drug called Qsymia (I wonder how much the branding company got paid for coming up with that one) seems to be as risky and of as little benefit as past diet drugs.


What I’ve read says that half the patients using the drug were able to lose nearly 10% of their weight when combined with diet and exercise.

That “when combined” clause says it all. I know from personal experience (even recently) that I can lose nearly 10% of my weight with just diet and exercise. Why would I want to add a possibly dangerous, or even lethal, pill into the equation?
