The first full moon after the vernal equinox and other March news
It’s been a busy March.
Here’s a photo I took the other day from my house at 5:45 am. You can see the Sky Tree, the full moon, and also Mt. Fuji in the distance. This was the first full moon after the vernal equinox, so that means Sunday is Easter Sunday,
Diet and health are going well. My weight remains stable, though annoyingly about 2~3 lb higher than it was before last year’s April trip to Boston and St. Louis. But at 148 lb (I used to be 284 lb!) I really have nothing to complain about. By eating WFPB (whole food plant based) this seems to be my stable weight no matter how much or little I eat every day, as long as I stick to whole, vegan foods with no added oils.
My former professor, Nelson Max, and his wife Mika are visiting Japan and they came over with their son David who moved here last August. We took Pao for a walk to the Sports Center and along the river. Nelson also came by one day by himself for an extra walk because he missed Pao so much.
Pao got two visits to the vet this month! He loves going to the vet! When he understands we’re going into that direction he pulls on the lead to hurry us along.
First, last week, for his rabies shot.
Then this morning, a week later, for other seasonal stuff to ward off bugs and things. He loves the vet!
I’ve also been busy planning my trip next week to Boston and then to St. Louis.
Oh, yes. Hirokazu and I also got married this month – on the vernal equinox. We are now legally married, via remote ceremony, in Utah County, Utah which has gone big into remote weddings since the pandemic, and since changes to same-sex marriage laws in the U.S. We have the ceremony all recorded, and an official wedding license and certificate from Utah County. Hirokazu is now recognized by the U.S. for things like social security spousal and survivor benefits.
Before the ceremony, we are in Japanese samue.
And then we had healthy soba for lunch.
Thanks to everyone who attended, remotely! If you are interested in watching a 6 minute recording of the ceremony let me know.
And looking forward to seeing family and friends in Boston and St. Louis next month!
