  1. Doug, Where will you get food? What can we do? Keep us posted. Love Mimi and Muttle

  2. Muttle and Mimi,I’m pretty sure distribution here in the capital will improve by week’s end. In the meantime, if I just get to the stores earlier I should be able to find things. I have enough food it the house for at least several days anyway! Thanks, doug

  3. Doug, Walt, Our little store near EiSei Byoin still has vegetables and fruit. The son has been ordering direct via computer from farmers and cutting out the middlemen. I don’t know how long he can keep it up. Lots of foreigners lined up for re-entry permits. I checked my passport tonight. My re-entry permit became void in June of 2010. Guess I’m stuck here until the dust settles and I can get it renewed. I’m not too eager to leave for the States. It’s still possible to head south to the Ryukyus for awhile. The bottom line is I wouldn’t want to go alone and leave Nobu here. Have you had any thoughts about possibly flying out? And how about you, Walt. Dave

  4. That’s the problem I have. I wouldn’t want to go and leave Hirokazu here and he doesn’t seem anxious to go anywhere. He doesn’t even have a passport. My re-entry permit is ok through July of 2012. But I don’t want to go and leave people behind.doug

  6. Dave, Thanks for your thoughts. Glad to hear that you will stay in Japan with Nobu, Doug, Hao and me. Although no eggs, no chicken livers in my local shop, a can of Campbells vegetarian Ministronewas available at ¥250. I snatched it up quickly while no one waslooking and will enjoy it for Saturday night dinner. Small piece of good news; the Recreation Center where I teach English 3 times a week for rent money, asked me to sign another one year contract. I did and now feeling fat, sassy and smug with another year in creature comforts. Did they really think I was going to flee like other gaijin? Dave, let me know before you go to Okinawa. Maybe I can come with you as your helper. Nobu, don’t be jealous.
