Visit to the Sensoji with visitor from UC Davis
Marina works at the University of California Davis. Davis/Livermore was the last grad school I attended before coming to Japan. I actually have only been to the Davis campus once, and spent all my time at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore.
Marina is in Japan this week, visiting alumni, and doing other important things for the campus. We met up at the Sensoji in Asakusa and had lunch and I showed her around. It was really nice getting together. Asakusa was incredibly crowded! A big difference from a couple of months ago before they started lifting tourist restrictions.
She brought me some nice souvenirs, including the UC Davis cap you see me wearing, and some interesting UC Davis statistics and information about important tie-ins with Japanese research institutions and universities.

Looks like a great time!!
