Where the elite meet to eat – Thanksgiving 1941 at the Presidio
My good friend Dave Fisher is a former military person. He knows I love this sort of ephemera, so he recently gave me the original menu from his Thanksgiving dinner at the Presidio from November 1941.
Here are a few pages from it. It’s in like new condition. Dave himself is in slightly used condition, but quite serviceable. ๐ You can find his name on the directory page.
How many of us know what we had for Thanksgiving dinner 72 years ago? And just two weeks before the war started!
Wow, Doug, that’s interesting. In fact, I have a retired Navy friend who lives in Monterey and he asked if we wanted to go to the Presidio this year for Thanksgiving dinner! (Only I couldn’t find it online, and he has to go to the Presidio to see if they are having it this year.) How ironic – I was just talking about it here and then your post shows up! Serendipity. ๐
Well, they were holding it regularly at least until 1941. That’s all I know. ๐
