Pao’s health scare – with a sweet ending
Every morning, after Pao’s walk, I brush him and clean his body with a shampoo sheet. A couple of days ago while using the sheet I felt a lump on his underside. It felt quite hard. I thought maybe something had gotten attached and tried to pull it off and Pao yelped and got upset. It seemed it was maybe part of his body.
You can see what it looked like in the preview image. A lump of some kind.
I was worried it was a tumor of some kind, so I walked him over the vet. Pao loves going to the vet. A very weird dog. As soon as I said, “Do you wanna go to the vet?” he got all excited and was circling around in the genkan by the front door.
Here is is pulling on his lead as we approach the vet’s clinic. The sign reads, “Shinkoiwa Pet Clinic.”

Fortunately nobody else was there and the vet was able to see him right away. Pao happily dashed into the examination room. He was too heavy for the nurse to lift him up onto the table, so she held Pao and the vet checked it out.

It turned out to be a hard candy drop!
I have absolutely no idea how it got there. The vet gave it to me as a souvenir (which I did not keep). It looks like it was maybe grape flavored, but I decided not to try it to see.

Afterwards, Pao checked out the examination table with the nurse, who Pao really loves.

Then we walked home via a park Pao likes.

Here’s a video of his going to the vet. Like I said he’s weird in that he really likes going to the vet. Tao, on the other hand, could tell when he was within 500 m of the vet and started pulling in the opposite direction. Anyway, a sweet ending.
