Late lunch at Sizzler’s, with social distancing

Today was Hasegawa-san’s birthday, so three of us decided to have a late lunch at Sizzler’s in Suidobashi. With proper care and social distancing of course.

At the entrance there was a machine to take our temperature. Needless to say everyone was wearing masks and there was antiseptic spray all over the place.

They were only using a fraction of the tables to keep everybody safely distanced.

At the salad bar, we were asked to not take the top plate. We also had to disinfect our hands and wear masks with each visit to the salad bar.

My very healthy, WFPB (whole food plant based) compliant lunch. About half starches and half non-starchy vegetables. Drizzled with some balsamic vinegar.

At Sizzler’s they also do something special if it’s your birthday. Sato-san brought along this photo from Dave’s 97th birthday lunch at Sizzler’s in Shinjuku. Hasegawa-san was also there.

At Sizzler’s they bring out a cake for people who are celebrating their birthday. Usually they gather staff around and sing “Happy Birthday” but they aren’t doing that this year.

Here’s the birthday card they made for Hasegawa-san. (I couldn’t help compare with the photo from 3 years ago. I look much thinner here. I also need to get some smaller shirts.)

On the way back, at the station, I sort of found the phrasing in English amusing. Anyway, the station was almost empty, so I stopped to take the photo.

It felt a bit strange walking home from my station. I think it’s been about a year since I was walking outside after dark. Pao apparently slept the whole time we were gone. We played with him for a while and he seemed ok.
