Results of my 6 month statin reduction test
And the final results of my 6 month statin tests are in.
Some might recall, I had been on statins for quite a long time. Since I had a stent installed in 2012. My cholesterol didn’t seem to be coming down naturally then, even while eating WFPB no oil The doctor explained that cholesterol is produced by the body and sometimes isn’t affected that much by what you eat.
Anyway, some 12 years later, after losing nearly 140 lb, my new doctor said, “Why don’t we test this again?”
So we began a conservative set of tests in July. Until then I had been taking one statin per day. For two months he changed that to one statin every other day. Then, for the next two months, he changed that to one statin every 3 days.
And for the last two month it’s been no statins.
Here is a table of results. Normal ranges are in parentheses.
What it indicates to me is that the statin does make some small difference. It seemed to have been pushing my LDL and total cholesterol to very low, below normal even, values.
But even with no statins my cholesterol is well within the low-normal range.
So the doctor said it’s fine to continue with no statins.
