They have great security at my friend’s hospital here in St. Louis.
It’s on the honor system of course. Aren’t you reassured?

Gun laws are a little different in some US states than in Japan 😉
Concealed handguns are common in Missouri. Missouri is a “shall issue” state: anyone is entitled to a concealed carry license unless they are barred for some particular legal reason (under age, felony conviction, etc.) The purpose of the sign on the hospital door is to give hospital security the legal right to eject people who have guns, otherwise guns would be allowed. Even I, a strong supporter of 2nd Amendment rights, will agree that barring guns in a hospital is probably a good idea. Ever been in an ER late on a Saturday night?
The strange thing though is that it’s completely on the honor system. There is no guard, or even a check in to visit patients.
Painting the sign was way cheaper than having actual security.
