Antiques around the fence at Lafayette Park
One of the big draws to the House and Garden tour in Lafayette Square are all the antique stalls set up around the Lafayette Park perimeter fence.
Here are some sights and interesting old objects I saw while wandering around. I’m still wonder if I should have bought the old book of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poems printed in the 1800s. There was a crushed flower inside, which looks like it might have been from back then…
But I did snag a 1901 William McKinley mourning pin, the top of a 19th century German cuckoo clock with bird engravings and a wooden owl whistle.
The stalls were lined up mostly along Park and Mississippi.
Artwork about Lafayette Square.
Cherubs and other antique objects.
Antique manuscripts.
Boxes of old photos are always interesting to look through.
It looks like a sake set from Japan maybe?
I wonder if this old telephone still works.
This old parking meter looked interesting, but was way to heavy to carry home.
An old Missouri car license plate from 1929.
A moose in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Vintage dresses.
I love these old stereoscopes. I already have one though, bought at a flea market in Tokyo.
Lots of interesting old books. I buy new books these days electronically. But I love getting old books and magazines like this.
Old family photos.
An antique mirror.
Old signs.
I want the dog!
Antique chandeliers.
Antique kitchen appliances.
A portrait of “president-elect” Franklin Roosevelt.
An antique water pitcher maybe? Maybe a milk urn?
Maybe old children’s toys.
Portraits.
An antique typewriter.
An old school desk.
Hmm… You don’t see these around anymore!
Antique cocoa and other tins.
I also like these old bottles and jars.
Love the antiques around the fence…….I went sat. Saw a piece of furniture. After mulling it over decided I needed it. Went back sun. Dealer not there. It was booth 73. Is there any way I could get his phone number? I would be forever grateful. Thank you in advance.
