Are they insane?
Mon and Monta hiding out after reading the article.
From the article:
The java sparrow is a small chubby bird which feeds on grains and seeds. In that spirit, you are treated to vanilla ice cream with grains mixed in. But wait! As the ice cream melts in your mouth you might feel something roly-poly, just like a java sparrow on your tongue. That would be the marshmallows hidden inside.
According to Torimi Cafe, “it’s the feeling of pressing the breast of a java sparrow into your mouth.”
Mon and Monta love millet. But it’s always hard to get a video of them eating because when I approach the cage with a camera they get startled and stop.
But I managed to capture some of Monta nibbling away today.
Sometimes Monta likes sitting on top of his swing, like in these photos, and in the video at the bottom. Mon is looking on. She has never used the swing.
It seems counter intuitive and uncomfortable to me, but then again I’m not a bird.
And a short video:
Mon was less camera shy tonight. Here are a couple of photos of her, all wet, after a hand bath at the kitchen sink.
The video at the bottom shows her drying herself. The chirping and singing you hear is from Monta, who was sitting on my shoulder as I made the recording.
