It’s the first time I have ever seen him sitting there.
Monta is cleverer than I thought. He is having trouble flying well and getting from perch to perch. But he wanted breakfast and figured out if he flings himself to the cage wall and grabs it, he can then lower himself to the perch where the food is.
Here he is enjoying his morning service, prepared to his liking.
Today Monta seems to be having trouble flying from one perch to the other. He often misses and lands randomly somewhere and then just sits there for a long time before trying again.
The guy I originally adopted Monta from back in 2012, who has raised Java Sparrows since forever, says that Monta is the equivalent of 80 years old now. He says Monta isn’t sick – just old.
Sort of a sad feeling though…
