Here is my menorah for each of the eight nights of Hanukkah. At the end you can see a short video of all the candles burning on the last night.
Today is Showa no Hi – the birthday of Emperor Showa, and a national holiday in Japan. It also marks the start of “Golden Week” – though the calendar this year falls in such a way that tomorrow and Friday are ordinary work days. But the 3rd through the 6th are all national holidays.
So Happy Showa no Hi to everybody.
Legally, the holiday is still called “George Washington’s Birthday.”
