I think you have hit the nail on the head.

Add to the media darling phenomenon that Obama has become basically a shell into which people can fill anything they want. That's why you see Republicans saying they might vote for him even though he is the most liberal Senator on record - with a higher liberal rating than Teddy Kennedy. It's because he is (cleverly) being exceptionally vague in the campaign, so people see in him whatever they want.

Question: How much do you think Obama's momentum is due to the fact that he's the "Media's Darling"?

I mean, the only time they mention him is either a) as an underdog, which in America is a BIG thing, or B) just generally in good light, or c) both.

Clinton on the other hand, always seems to be slighted, as if "it's hers to lose" or other. Seems that while they're not blatantly bashing her, they seem to only allude to her as "that" candidate, rather than A candidate.... At least what I see.

wow i did not know that. That's good publicity, too. As much as I dislike Oprah because I think she's utterly full of herself, I KNOW tons of women falsely worship the ground she walks on.

I sort of like "Group 1 with a reasonable social safety net". I'm not sure where on the political spectrum that puts me, but I guess I would not be welcome at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Nice write-up. If there has to be conservatives in this world, they should all align behind ground #1 (libertarians). At least they have an actual, succinct philosophy that can hold water to a degree. The rest have....

Hypocrites. Each of the other three believe pretty much what you accused them of, but only so far as it negatively affects others, not themselves. God forbid ("god forbid!") that they suffer because of their own views. God forbid that they are on the short end of the stick.

In all reality, I think the healthiest form of government is actually #1 with rubbings of Democracy all over it. Gov't gets bigger because it becomes necessary in order to enforce all the contracts/laws that are in place that the other 3 camps like so much to try to subvert. If the "wickedness of man" wasn't so prevalent, think that the libertarians would have a chance at being right about the issue.

Does anyone have a list of Hillary campaign contributors for comparison, one for one? How many corporation contributors does she have and in what industries? I categorize some of these articles as similar to those that state research has shown a certain type of whiskey is good for the health to later discover the author was paid by the Distillers Association. There are all kinds of stories floating around out there, factual or non-factual, the effect is the same. Get them out just before the BIG VOTE, just right for effect, and too late to verify. I will remain focused on the overall managerial ability, potential, and consistent good judgment of each candidate

I agree with you about flippers except for this - when houses go into foreclosure it has horrible ripple effects for everybody else.

I read that for every house that is foreclosed in a neighborhood, the property values of the other houses in that same neighborhood go down 1%.

Also crime goes up with abandoned houses.

There also seems to be a lot of poor people who got into loans they thought they could afford, but really could not because they were sold a bill-of-goods and didn't understand the dangers of the adjustable-rate mortgages they were getting into.

Also, in an overall economic downturn, people can basically use their houses like an ATM card, and take out equity for family emergencies. That is a good thing too.

So it is complicated...

I'm almost completely on the Hilary Bandwagon, looking forward to seeing Clinton-Obama take on McCain-? for the race. I figure America wins no matter what at that point; McCain is pretty centrist for a republican,

Mr. Clinton was down the street from me a couple of weeks back (see here:). I listened over the radio as they only admitted some 500 or so people, and I mostly agreed with what he had to say, except....

They want to bolster the housing market! NO! Let that sling slide! Look, bolstering the market only serves to INCREASE PRICES, keeping the down-trodden and middle-classes from being able to afford decent housing. How the hell is this plan supposed to HELP US afford the American Dream?

Let the housing market slide. The people losing on it right now? People who bought to flip, holding onto mortages they thought they could sell in 6-18 months. Fuck 'em. I watched these people turn the street I used to live on from a middle-class suburb to a $1 million+ cul-de-sac. Yes, it went from affordable to $1.2 million in the course of 5 years. FUCK. THEM.

Let the housing market crumble, let it correct itself, you want to insure us, you want to feed us and clothe us, why not get us a house too? That'd be nice!
